What is Anchor Text? – Definition

Anchor text (also known as link label or link text) is a clickable text on the link. It is visible in the HTML code between the open <a> and close </a> tags.

A good example is <a href=”https://delante.co/”>anchor text</a>. The link leading to a given website is hidden under the anchor text, most often it is a keyword to which you want the website to be displayed in the search results.

Anchor can also be the URL that leads to a given page:  <a href=”https://delante.co/“>delante.co</a>.
